Special Technique/Craft:
Kalamkari is a type of hand-painted or block-printed cotton textile, wherein motifs are inspired from the folklore and are hand painted using the tool of kalam directly onto the fabric. The process involves washing, rinsing, soaking and bleaching the fabric and applying mordants and dyes using natural substances like indigo (blue), madder (red), mango bark (yellow) and palm sugar (black). Painting on the fabric is done with a kalam, charcoal and myrobalan paste.

slightly thicker than two other cotton dresses I bought with this, but I’m not complaning. Print is fantastic kalamkari, and I love the fit although for me it was a tad fitted, but not tight, in the bust. Might have something to do with the thickness of the fabric but I’m 5 ft 4 and weigh 56kg. The XS fit perfectly before wash, but I will have to see if it will fit after shrinkage or order a size bigger next time.
Will be ordering another one for a friend after checking the shrinkage and fit. always love the pockets on these dresses.
